Lafayette Square Elopement with a twist!
David and Marian traveled from Florida to be married by Rev. Joe Wadas in Savannah’s Historic Lafayette Square. As it turned out, a Japanese TV production company, TopSpin Creative, was in town filming for a one-hour weekly travel documentary series, “The World Travel on Foot” for NHK, the largest public broadcaster in Japan. For the documentary, the camera walks through the streets to find people doing interesting things, and has a brief conversation with them about the city and their lives. They were filming a segment on Savannah, and David and Marian’s elopement was part of the feature that aired in July on NHK!
That was definitely a first for me and we had such fun participating in the show. Marian told me later, “I still think about our little ceremony every day and how perfect it was.”
You can view the documentary HERE (our footage appears at 27min, so you can forward to that part. And of course it is all in Japanese, so I hope they are saying nice things about us lol)
Congratulations to Marian & David!

Savannah Family Portraits | Tinsley Family
The Tinsleys recently found out that their 3 year old daughter Ava has stage 3 high-risk neuroblastoma, which is localized, but very aggressive. Over the next year she will endure 5 rounds of chemotherapy, during which she will be in the hospital for several days and then home recovering for a few weeks, surgery, at least two trips to Atlanta for stem cell collection and transplant, radiation, and then immunotherapy.
They asked me to photograph their family so they could document some special family moments together before the long road of treatments begin (she already had her first chemo treatment and it went well). It meant a lot to me to be able to capture some happy memories for them. Older sister Ella and my son Henry have been classmates in daycare, Pre-K and now are in the same kindergarten class. Ella is a little firecracker and is very comfortable in front of the camera. She is so cute and calls me “Henry’s Mom”. Ava was a little shy but warmed up quickly and I think we got some precious images. She is a strong little girl with a big heart and I know she will beat this!
If you would like to help the Tinsleys, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help with medical and travel expenses over the next year for Ava’s treatment and recovery.
