Destination Savannah Proposals

I wanted to share a few images from this past year of destination Savannah proposals. It has been a busy year for capturing romantic proposals in Savannah! I absolutely love being a part of surprise proposals and am honored when I am contacted in advance to schedule a surprise proposal session.

A romantic carriage ride ending in Forsyth Park or in one of our beautiful squares is always a great choice! Check out Madison Tour Company to book your carriage!

Are you planning a surprise proposal aor looking for a Savannah or Tybee wedding or elopement photographer? John and Lauren were recently engaged in Historic Forsyth Park. They took a romantic stroll through the Savannah Squares and ended at the fountain in Forsyth Park where John asked Lauren for her hand in marriage! They were absolutely adorable and she was totally surprised.

Spike took Lindsay on a historic carriage tour that ended in Columbia Square. They walked up to the fountain and he dropped to one knee and popped the question. Lindsay was completely caught off guard and her reaction was super cute! Afterwards we wandered around the area for more photos.

Matt spent most of the day making sure everything was just right and that the ring was perfectly hidden on a sunflower before he proposed to Ashlynn on his family farm. It was such a pretty spot for a proposal! Definitely one of my favorites.

Kyle had told both families that he was going to propose to Emily on the lovely grounds of Bethesda Academy. Members from both families were actually hiding behind a building watching the entire thing. Emily was so shocked after she said ” I Do” to see all of the family make themselves known. So great!

Alex proposed to Sarah on the dock of her parent’s home in Dutch Island. She was the only one who had no idea what had been planned! She was completely shocked! Meanwhile, many of their family and friends were hidden in the house watching the whole thing. It was fantastic!

Tim and April were guests at the amazing Kehoe House whose staff helped Tim plan the perfect proposal! They arranged for a carriage tour with Madison Tour Company that would take them around the city and then dropping them back at Columbia Square. Tim dropped on one knee after making a wish in the fountain and asked April to marry him. She was completely surprised! Afterwards we walked around the squares for some more photos.

Another lovely proposal in front of the famous Forsyth Park Fountain. Arjun chose to propose the week of St. Patrick’s Day, which in Savannah is quite the celebration- so much that the fountain had been dyed green making for some fun pics! I love the black and white of Tess as the realization of the proposal starts to sink in!

Charles and Cherie were engaged in January on the coldest day of the year. It was so cold that day that parts of the fountain had actually frozen into icicles! Despite the chill in the air the proposal went off without a hitch and was just beautiful. You can see some cool photos of the frozen fountain HERE.

Another sweet winter proposal was Sydney and Andrew. The path we had planned for Andrew to walk on to the fountain had been roped off for a wedding, luckily I had time to maneuver over to the other side of the fountain without being noticed at all. PHEW! It all worked out and they were absolutely adorable. You can see more of their photos HERE:

Hilton Head Portraits | Palmetto Dunes Resort | Hilton Head Photographer

Hilton Head Portraits

It was a beautiful evening on Hilton Head Island for photographing this sweet family visiting from Atlanta. We met up at Hampton Place Villas for a few quick shots by the greenery before heading to the beach at Palmetto Dunes. This was my absolute favorite kind of beach session where the family just did their thing while I observed and captured from afar. There was so much love surrounding this adorable family that it was hard not to capture such cherished moments. It makes me so happy to be a part of such special memories.

Savannah Marriage Proposal | Surprise Engagement | Savannah Photographer

Savannah Marriage Proposal

I always love it when I am contacted to secretly be a part of a marriage proposal! This time was no exception and the “groom to be” went all out in this creative and well thought-out plan. Matt chose the gorgeous sunflower field at his family farm as his location for popping the question. He arrived earlier in the day to make sure everything was just right and to carefully attach the ring to a single sunflower that he would surprise his future bride with. Ashlynn thought they were there to do some family portraits and was so shocked when she realized that Matt had an ulterior motive. Everything went perfectly and I am so excited for them- congratulations to Matt and Ashlynn!

North Beach Family Portraits | Tybee Island | Contratto Family

North Beach family session on Tybee!

The Contrattos traveled all the way from Kentucky for their beach vacation on Tybee Island. We had escaped the thunderstorms and it turned out to be a beautiful evening for some beach fun. Even the seagulls cooperated. Loved this sweet family.

Dresser Palmer House | Savannah Elopement | Spring Ceremony

The Dresser Palmer House Savannah Elopement

Carolyn and Mike traveled from South Carolina to be married at the beautiful Dresser Palmer House in Historic Savannah. We couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous day or location! Carolyn carried Mike’s ring in a tiny blue bird that was actually a gift he had given her on their first date. She kept it hidden from him until the vows and I thought that was such a sweet sentiment! Best wishes to Carolyn and Mike on their new journey together as husband and wife!

Savannah Portrait Photographer | Forsyth Park | Spring Family Session

Savannah Portrait Photographer

I am excited that Spring is officially here in Savannah! The Lundberg family was visiting from Washington and staying at the amazing Hamilton Turner Inn. They called me to schedule their family session in Forsyth Park and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful Spring day!

The twins were super cute and I loved watching them interact with each other. It was so fascinating to watch them play together- even simple games like rock, paper, scissors they were always in sync. I always love to meet families who are visiting Savannah for the first time and watch them take in all of the beauty around us.

Kehoe House | Savannah Elopement | Tricia and Steven

Kehoe House Savannah Elopement

Tricia and Steven traveled from Missouri to be married on the veranda of the beautiful Kehoe House in Historic Savannah. In true elopement style, they did not tell ANYBODY that they were getting married during their vacation to Savannah. After the ceremony they made a few phone calls to tell their parents- the reactions were absolutely adorable as you can see in the photos below the cake pictures. The sun was just starting to set creating some beautiful light for our pictures around the Kehoe House and in the adjacent Columbia Square. The Newlyweds enjoyed a special carriage ride to Forsyth Park where we got a few last shots.

Congratulations to Tricia and Steven!!

Thank you Tricia for the wonderful review you left for me:

“I was looking for a flexible and affordable photographer who could capture my fun, romantic Savannah elopement. Diane knocked it out of the park! Her photographs were beautiful and she really listened to our wants and needs. She works quickly and has a natural eye for a great shot. She allowed us to be ourselves while capturing the magic of our secret, exciting day! I am absolutely in love with my photographs. I can’t say thanks enough to Diane!”
