Congratulations to Rachel & Jordan who were married at Savannah’s beautiful Botanical Gardens!
“The story of how we met… it’s kind of a strange one! We actually met when Jordan was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas and I was in my Senior year at Michigan State University (fall 2009). I got a random friend request on Facebook from him, and accepted because I thought he was someone I knew, but then realized I didn’t. Turns out he was looking for a different Rachel Peters that was a family friend he hadn’t talked to in years. He saw my picture and knew I wasn’t her, but decided to send me the request anyway. So he sent me a message and introduced himself and I messaged back. We kept that up for a few weeks and then that progressed to phone calls, and then he started driving from Kansas to Michigan to spend the weekends with me. Then I invited him to Thanksgiving with my family, and then met his family at Christmas. We spent most of the next couple months together as often as possible despite the distance, but then he got deployed to Iraq in March 2010. That made our already long distance relationship even more long distance! But we were able to Skype most days, and I moved out to Kansas for Grad school the next fall, so I was waiting there for him when he got back. I’ll never forget the day he came home…. 3am on Valentines day 2011. I was so excited he was home, and then, he proposed that same day!! After a 2 year and 3 month engagement, I was so glad to finally tie the knot last weekend :)”
